About AK Archery
AK Archery is an independent, educational website about archery and bowhunting in Alaska. We write practical guides for new and returning archers on equipment, practice, cold-weather shooting and ethical bowhunting.
What we are not
- We are not a hunting guide service or outfitter.
- We are not an archery pro shop or retailer, and we do not sell equipment.
- We are not affiliated with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game or any other agency.
- We are not a club or range, and we do not run classes or bowhunter education courses.
Our approach
We focus on principles that hold up season after season, such as form, tuning, shot placement and gear care, and we point to the official regulations for anything that changes, such as equipment minimums, seasons, bowhunter education requirements and salvage rules. Where we mention historical regulation figures, we label them that way and ask you to verify them.
Sources we rely on
- The Alaska Department of Fish and Game hunting regulations and Hunter Information and Training program
- Bowhunter education materials from the International Bowhunter Education Program
- Equipment manufacturers' published specifications and spine charts
- Rules published by national archery organizations
